In the Hrodna region, a company attempted to conceal a fertiliser leak by arranging fictitious transactions. The scheme was uncovered by officers of the State Control Committee and the Main Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and Corruption.
More than 330 tonnes of urea-ammonium nitrate solution leaked at one of the region’s enterprises. To cover up the incident, the company “sold” the fertiliser to several agricultural organisations in the Lida district. The fertiliser was never delivered, but the buyers fabricated documents claiming it had been applied to the soil and even paid for it, the State Control Committee reports.
The damage is estimated at nearly 270,000 Belarusian roubles. The Hrodna Regional Prosecutor’s Office has opened seven criminal cases.
