Combat Readiness Inspection Ordered by Lukashenka Completed

A surprise inspection of the combat readiness of the Belarusian Armed Forces, conducted on the orders of Alyaksandr Lukashenka bypassing the Defense Ministry, has been completed in Belarus, BelTA reports.

“Today the implementation of a set of measures within the framework of the concept of the surprise inspection of the Armed Forces, approved by an order of the head of state, has been completed. I want to say that over these two months a wide range of measures was carried out, and a broad spectrum of issues related to the readiness and ability of the Armed Forces to perform their assigned tasks was inspected,” said State Secretary of the Security Council Alyaksandr Valfovich.

Lukashenka launched the surprise combat readiness inspection bypassing the Defense Ministry on January 16. Later he justified his decision, saying it was not due to a lack of trust in the General Staff or the defense minister.
