Coale: We Are Working to Secure the Release of More People in the Very Near Future

U.S. presidential envoy John Coale hopes that more Belarusian political prisoners will be released “in the very near future.”

“25 prisoners are free today! President Trump’s commitment to direct diplomacy delivers results. Thank you, President Lukashenka, for this step, and thank you to our friends in Lithuania for their support. We will continue to improve US-Belarus relations and are working to secure the release of more people in the very near future. We are not finished!” — he wrote on X.

Following negotiations between Aliaksandr Lukashenka and U.S. presidential envoy John Coale, the Belarusian authorities promised to release 25 people in exchange for the lifting of sanctions on Lakokraska and Bellesbumprom. Those released were taken to Lithuania. Coale also said that the release of political prisoners and the lifting of sanctions would continue.
