Former political prisoner Siarhei Sparysh, released on Sept. 11, 2025, with U.S. assistance, appealed to U.S. presidential envoy John Coale to help secure the release of 19-year-old political prisoner Aliaksandra Pulinovich from a penal colony.
Coale published a video address by Sparysh on his X page and commented on it.
“On my next trip to Belarus I will bring up your friend,” he wrote.
Aliaksandra Pulinovich was detained in January 2024 at the age of 16 in connection with the “Black Nightingales” case. The case concerns a group of teenagers accused by the authorities of cooperating with Ukrainian special services and preparing acts of sabotage. In 2025, Aliaksandra was sentenced to 10 years and three months in a medium-security penal colony on charges related to desecration of buildings, illegal handling of explosives, and attempted terrorism.
She is now 19 years old and serving her sentence at Penal Colony No. 4 in Homiel. In February 2026, the KGB added her to the “list of terrorists”, which means a ban on money transfers to her.
