The clearance of trucks at the Belarus-Lithuania border may take longer on September 19 due to technical work on the Lithuanian customs authorities’ information systems, the State Customs Committee of Belarus warned.
From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., several customs information systems at Lithuanian border checkpoints will operate with disruptions. As a result, delays are possible in the clearance of freight vehicles crossing the border.
The restrictions will affect the National Transit Control System (NTKS), the Intelligent Customs Declaration Processing System (iMDAS), the system for presenting goods to customs (PPMKS), as well as the national components of the Import Control System (ICS2), including the Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) system.
Lithuanian customs said the temporary unavailability of the systems was caused by scheduled technical maintenance.
During the maintenance, a business continuity procedure will be applied at declarants’ request, providing for an alternative, including paper-based, procedure for processing documents. There will be no need to separately contact technical support to obtain authorization to use the paper-based procedure when the iMDAS and NTKS systems are unavailable.
Belarus’s State Customs Committee warned that the technical work could affect the time required to clear trucks. Passenger cars and buses, however, will be processed by Lithuanian authorities as usual.
