The BYSOL Solidarity Foundation has begun making payments from an emergency fundraiser launched after political prisoners were released on September 16. At the time, 25 people were taken to Lithuania following a meeting between US President’s special envoy John Coale and Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
BYSOL said that seven of those released on September 16 have already received financial assistance of €1,000 each.
The fundraiser will remain open until October 16. A total of €37,000 has already been raised. Once the fundraising campaign ends, former political prisoners will receive a second payment from the amount exceeding €25,000.
BYSOL said it had received 1,076 donations in total. The largest donations were €800 and €500. The most common donation was €25.
