Broad Money Supply Rose 3.2% in August

Broad money supply increased by just 3.2%, or BYN 3.58 billion, in August, reaching BYN 116 billion. The National Bank of Belarus published the data. The growth rate of broad money supply increased noticeably compared with July, when it rose by only 0.4% over the month.

Since the beginning of the year, broad money supply has increased by 12.6%, or nearly BYN 13 billion.

As of September 1, the amount of cash in circulation stood at BYN 17.82 billion. It increased by BYN 382.8 million over the month and by BYN 3.34 billion since the beginning of the year.

In August, the M1 monetary aggregate, including transferable deposits, increased by BYN 1.6 million to BYN 41.79 billion.

Money supply under the national definition increased by BYN 2.36 billion to BYN 75.64 billion.

The ruble money supply increased by BYN 2.37 billion to BYN 79.07 billion.

Foreign currency deposits declined by $134.7 million in August to $11.965 billion. Deposits held by individuals fell by $57.1 million to $4.91 billion, while deposits held by legal entities decreased by $77.6 million to $7.05 billion.
