Belarusians Owe Banks More Than 32 Billion Rubles

Banks increased lending to individuals in July. Loans worth 1.88 billion rubles were issued during the month, 56 million rubles more than in June. Compared with July last year, lending volume increased by 38.9%. The National Bank of Belarus published the data.

Overall, in the first seven months of the year, the amount of loans issued by banks to individuals increased by 16% compared with the same period last year.

Consumer lending in January-July increased by 17.4% to 8.57 billion rubles. Lending for real estate increased by 10.7% to 2.17 billion rubles.

Individuals’ outstanding loan debt increased by 627.1 million rubles in June and stood at 32.35 billion rubles as of Aug. 1. Over the year, individuals’ outstanding loan debt increased by 14.7%.

Outstanding consumer loan debt increased by 20.4% to 13.38 billion rubles, while debt on real estate loans increased by 11.1% to 18.94 billion rubles.

As of Aug. 1, individuals were overdue on loan payments totaling 58 million rubles, 1.8 million rubles more than as of July 1. Over the year, the volume of overdue debt increased by 10 million rubles.
