The Belarusian Railway has received the first batch of covered freight wagons manufactured by Asipovichi Transport Engineering Plant CJSC. The Ministry of Transport said the delivery was part of an import substitution programme.
The covered wagon has a capacity of 152 cubic metres and a payload capacity of 69 tonnes. It is designed to carry individual items, packaged goods, palletised cargo, bulk materials and other freight requiring protection from precipitation.
“The launch of production of the covered wagon was preceded by design and development work, including the manufacture of a prototype, testing and certification, and preparations for serial production. In addition to the covered wagon, the Asipovichi Transport Engineering Plant has mastered the production of a railway bogie for freight wagons with an axle load of 23.5 tonnes per axle, including for use in the manufacture of covered wagons,” the Ministry of Transport said.
The first loading point for the new wagons will be an enterprise belonging to Belgospishcheprom.
