Belarusian enterprises laid off more workers than they hired in the first quarter, according to data from the national statistics agency. The report does not include information on micro and small enterprises without departmental affiliation.
In March, a total of 57,520 people were hired, while 59,060 were dismissed. The number of dismissals exceeded hires by 1,544.
Compared with March 2025, hiring increased by 9.8%, while dismissals rose by 12.2%.
Over the first quarter as a whole, Belarusian enterprises hired 147,860 people and dismissed 149,000. The balance was negative, with 1,141 more dismissals than hires.
In January–March, hiring increased by 3%, while dismissals rose by 7.2%.
In March, the negative balance was recorded in manufacturing (-1,484), trade (-293), transport and logistics (-1,129), public administration (-16), education (-308), and healthcare (-486).
A positive balance in March was observed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (+1,095), construction (+1,223), and information and communications (+175).
Over the three-month period, more people were dismissed than hired in manufacturing (-2,362), healthcare (-938), transport and logistics (-2,185), trade (-681), and education (-140).
In January–March, a positive balance was recorded in agriculture, forestry and fishing (+1,072), construction (+2,235), information and communications (+515), and public administration (+108).
