A Belarusian man who had been banned from entering Poland and the Schengen Area came up with a way to bypass the restriction. The scheme worked for two years until he was detained, Słowo Podlasia reports.
When Belarusian citizen Ruslan B. was banned from entering Poland and the Schengen Area, he took his mother’s surname, obtained a new passport, and continued traveling. From February 2024 to January 2026, he made around ten trips through the Terespol border crossing and Warsaw airport.
Eventually, the Belarusian man was detained. His trial took place in the district court in Biała Podlaska. The 41-year-old man was found guilty of repeatedly crossing the state border illegally by using deception. The court treated all of his trips as one continuing offense.
He was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years. If he violates the law again, he will face more serious consequences.
