Belarusian citizen Vitaly S. has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison on charges of preparing an act of sabotage on behalf of a foreign intelligence service. The verdict was handed down by the District Court in Lublin, Radio Lublin reports.
According to the indictment, the 28-year-old Belarusian was acting on instructions from an unidentified person when he prepared an act of sabotage in Chełm — setting fire to a warehouse. He filmed the site and sent the footage to the unidentified person, receiving a cryptocurrency payment worth about 1,500 zlotys ($490).
The man agreed to the sentence. The court also ordered him to pay a fine of 1,500 zlotys and deprived him of civil rights for nine years.
Officers of Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) arrested the Belarusian in Warsaw on August 13, 2025. He remained in detention pending trial.
