Belarusian Man Sentenced In Absentia To Six Years In Prison And Stripped Of Rank

The Brest Regional Court has sentenced Dzmitry Banit in absentia to six years in a medium-security penal colony and a fine of 1,000 base units (45,000 rubles). He was also stripped of the rank of junior sergeant of the reserve, the court’s press service reported.

Banit was charged under five articles of the Criminal Code:

  • Part 1 of Article 130 on inciting hatred;
  • Article 188 on defamation;
  • Part 3 of Article 203-1 on illegal actions involving personal data;
  • Article 364 on violence or threats of violence against a law enforcement officer;
  • Article 369 on insulting a representative of authority.

Special proceedings in the case began in October 2025.
