The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection has established the cause of the “disappearance” of a forest lake near the Dalva memorial in the Lahoysk district. According to the ministry, an inspection found that the lake’s water level had dropped because a drainage pipe had become clogged.
Following a report, specialists from the Minsk Regional Committee of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, together with forestry workers and employees of the Central Research Institute for Complex Use of Water Resources, visited the site. The lake is located within the Akolava forestry district of the Lahoysk forestry enterprise. The inspection found that the drainage pipe was clogged. As a result, the water began seeking a new channel and eroded the dam, causing the lake’s water level to drop sharply. The situation is currently being monitored by the committee’s management.
“In the near future, once the entity responsible for the pipe is identified and restores it, the lake will form again through natural filling,” the ministry said.
Earlier, a local resident told Onlíner about the disappearance of the artificial lake. According to him, the lake was still there on Sunday, but by Tuesday the water had almost completely drained away. The nearby hydraulic structure and dam have long been abandoned. The man suggested that the drain may have become clogged with branches and leaves, causing the water to overflow and wash away the dam.
