Police in Warsaw’s Ursus district detained a 46-year-old Belarusian citizen. He is suspected of refusing to pay for a taxi ride, threatening the driver with death and damaging his vehicle. The man was handed over to Poland’s Border Guard for deportation proceedings, Warsaw police said.
The incident occurred on Sosnkowskiego Street. According to preliminary findings by law enforcement, after arriving at the specified address, the passenger refused to pay for the ride. A conflict broke out between him and the driver, during which the Belarusian allegedly began threatening the taxi driver with death.
Police said the driver took the threats seriously and feared that the passenger might carry them out.
In addition, the man allegedly kicked the taxi’s fender and damaged it. The vehicle’s owner estimated the damage at approximately 1,000 zlotys.
Police detained the 46-year-old Belarusian citizen. He was charged with making threats and damaging another person’s property.
During a check, it was established that a decision had previously been issued requiring the Belarusian to leave Poland. After completing the necessary procedures, police handed the man over to Border Guard officers for further proceedings related to his deportation from the country.
