Belarusian air defence troops have begun the active phase of an exercise taking place at a Russian training ground.
According to the Defence Ministry, they have taken up air defence combat duty.
“During the preparations, the servicemen checked the readiness of radar stations, launchers and communications equipment. Duty shifts are ready to respond immediately to changes in the air situation,” the statement said.
Practical firing exercises are next. Conditions in Belarus do not allow firing exercises with air defence missile systems to be conducted, so Belarusian troops have been carrying them out at the Ashuluk training ground for years.
The exercise involving air defence forces is being held from Aug. 25 to Sept. 10.
