Aliaksandr Lukashenka has signed a decree “On the Establishment of the Academy of Intelligent Technologies.” The academy will begin training specialists on September 1, 2027. Its programs will cover natural sciences, industrial and digital technologies and other “promising fields,” Lukashenka’s press service reported.
Admission to the Academy will follow a special procedure in the form of a nationwide competition. School graduates, college and university students, enterprise specialists and scientists will be eligible to participate in the selection process. At the preliminary stage in Minsk, regional centers and major cities, candidates will be asked to present their own creative idea, development, invention or efficiency proposal.
The final stage will take place directly at the Academy in the form of an intensive practical program. Participants will have to complete individual and group assignments, publicly defend their projects and pass an internal entrance examination.
Scientists and university lecturers, as well as managers and enterprise specialists with experience in scientific, innovative and industrial fields “who have achieved significant results in scientific, innovative and industrial fields,” are expected to be involved in teaching.
Educational programs will be adjustable to reflect the needs of various industries. Students will be able to choose specialized courses, related areas of specialization and their major. The program will include training at enterprises and work on real-world production tasks, as well as individual and group research projects.
Upon completing their studies, graduates will be required to pass a state examination and defend either a startup project or an applied research project.
The Academy’s work will be coordinated and overseen by a supervisory board headed by the education minister. It will include the heads of relevant ministries and agencies, the National Academy of Sciences and the Hi-Tech Park.
Experimental educational programs and methods tested at the Academy are subsequently expected to be introduced at other educational institutions.
“The establishment of the Academy will make it possible to create a flexible, interdisciplinary scientific and educational environment of a new type, focused on practical results and integrated into real economic processes while taking into account the country’s needs,” the press release said.
