Belarus plans to include unmanned vehicles in its traffic regulations. Work on the necessary legal framework has already begun and could be completed within two to three years. Viktar Ratchankou, head of the main traffic police department of the Interior Ministry, said this on CTV.
“The plan to amend the legislation already includes provisions to regulate the movement of unmanned transport in the Republic of Belarus within two to three years. We are already starting work on amending the legislation to allow access, perhaps starting with trams, then cars, so that they can be operated by unmanned systems. This requires changes to many legislative acts, but the work is already beginning so that in two to three years we can reach the final stage,” he said.
Unmanned vehicles could be included in the traffic regulations by 2030.
At the same time, starting in 2027–2028, the country will introduce state standards for unmanned vehicles.
