Belarus’s gold and foreign exchange reserves stood at $14.63 billion as of October 1. They fell by $609 million in September, according to data published by the National Bank of Belarus.
“The decline in the volume of gold and foreign exchange reserves is related to the drop in the price of gold on international markets,” the National Bank said.
In September, the value of monetary gold included in the reserves fell by $675.1 million, while the value of SDRs declined by $8 million and foreign currency reserve assets increased by $74.1 million. The reserve position in the IMF and other assets remained unchanged, at $0.03 million and $0.1 million, respectively.
Since the beginning of the year, Belarus’s gold and foreign exchange reserves have increased by $210.4 million. The value of monetary gold declined by $230.7 million, the value of SDRs fell by $9.9 million, while foreign currency reserve assets increased by $451 million.
