Belarus’ gold and foreign exchange reserves fell by $376.5 million in October, standing at almost $14.26 billion as of November 1. The National Bank of Belarus published the figures.
The decline in reserves was driven by a decrease in the value of monetary gold. In October, its value fell by $461 million to $6.78 billion. The value of special drawing rights decreased by $4.6 million to nearly $1.4 billion. Foreign currency reserve assets increased by $89.1 million to $6.08 billion. The reserve position in the IMF and other assets, valued at $0.03 million and $0.1 million respectively, remained unchanged.
Compared with the beginning of the year, reserves declined by $166 million. This included a $691.6 million decrease in the value of monetary gold and a $14.5 million decrease in special drawing rights, while foreign currency reserve assets increased by $540.1 million.
