The quota for duty-free imports of electric vehicles into Belarus by individuals has been exhausted, the Customs Committee reported.
For further customs declarations of electric vehicles, owners must take into account the payment of a customs duty of 15% of the vehicle’s value.
At the same time, the exhaustion of the quota does not eliminate the possibility of an exemption from VAT. The benefit remains in effect for electric vehicles that were manufactured no more than five years ago, in accordance with Decree No. 92 of March 12, 2020, signed by Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
Earlier, the Eurasian Economic Commission set a quota of 20,000 electric vehicles for duty-free imports into Belarus. In May this year, the Belarusian government allocated the quota between individuals and legal entities. Legal entities were granted the right to import 13,800 electric vehicles under the quota this year, while individuals were allocated 6,200. The quota for duty-free imports of electric vehicles by legal entities was exhausted in July.
