The Belarusian State Committee on Science and Technology has begun establishing an Interagency Council for Ensuring Technological Sovereignty. The decision to create it was adopted by the Council of Ministers in May.
Today, the National Legal Internet Portal published Resolution No. 11 of the State Committee on Science and Technology, dated July 22, approving regulations governing the council’s operation, as well as a number of other documents. The resolution takes effect after its publication.
The council will be headed by the chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology. Its members will also include the committee’s deputy chairmen, deputy ministers from key ministries, deputy chairmen of state concerns, the head of the department for the use and development of unmanned aerial vehicles and electronic warfare systems at the Main Directorate of the Commander of the Interior Ministry’s Internal Troops, a deputy chief of the General Staff, the head of a department at the Operations and Analysis Center, and the first deputy chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences.
The council is being established to consider proposals from government agencies and organizations on adding technologies and goods to the list of critical technologies and critical goods. It will also hear reports from government agencies on measures being taken to ensure technological sovereignty. Meetings will be held as necessary, but at least once a year.
The resolution also approves regulations governing the formation of the list of critical technologies and goods.
