Belarus and Russia have reviewed the implementation of the Treaty on Security Guarantees within the Union State. A two-day meeting was held in Moscow between the countries’ special representatives, Belarusian and Russian deputy foreign ministers Ihar Sakreta and Alexander Grushko.
“The parties conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in the Union State, current and projected threats, as well as joint measures being taken to address them as part of the implementation of the provisions of the Treaty and the Security Concept of the Union State, with a focus on nuclear and biological security,” the Foreign Ministry said.
The special representatives also discussed NATO and EU policies, coordination in combating terrorism and extremism, organized crime and drug trafficking, and illegal migration. Measures to counter sanctions were also discussed.
The next meeting to review the implementation of the treaty is scheduled for the first half of 2027.
