Bear “Patrols” Lithuanian–Belarusian Border

A bear was spotted on the Lithuanian–Belarusian border on Lithuanian territory, the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania reported.

On the evening of March 18, Lithuanian border guards, using a video surveillance system, observed a bear emerging from the forest, walking along a patrol path to the border fence, pausing to sniff around, and then returning to the forest. The incident occurred near the village of Ašaninkai in the Varėna district.

Over the next two hours, the bear approached the border several more times at different locations before eventually returning to the forest.
