Armenian Roses Transported From Belarus Destroyed in Russia

Russian authorities in the Smolensk Region destroyed 39,200 roses from Armenia that had been transported from Belarus without the required documentation.

A truck carrying the flowers from the Minsk Region to Moscow was stopped in the Smolensk Region on June 18. The driver presented shipping documents for non-alcoholic energy drinks, but had no documents for the roses. The remaining labels on the flowers indicated Armenia as the country of origin, the Russian agricultural watchdog reported.

Russia imposed a ban on the import and transit of Armenian goods on June 12. The roses were destroyed on July 23, and the carrier was held administratively liable.
