Already 240 People Convicted in ‘Hajun Case’, Rights Group Says

The Viasna Human Rights Centre has information about 240 people convicted in the “Hajun case”. These are confirmed convictions.

Since the beginning of the year, about 550 people convicted under Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code (assisting extremist activity) have been added to the Interior Ministry’s “extremist list”. According to human rights defenders, most of those convicted under this article were prosecuted in connection with the “Hajun case”.

Belarusian Hajun was an OSINT monitoring project tracking the military activity of Russian and Belarusian forces. The monitoring group was established before the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war by activist Anton Matolka. In early February 2025, security forces gained access to a chat with the project’s bot. The project subsequently announced that it was ceasing operations.
