A Boeing 737 MAX landed at Modlin Airport near Warsaw today. The landing was unscheduled and was prompted by a bomb threat.
The aircraft was operating a flight from London to Warsaw Chopin Airport, the capital’s main airport. However, following the bomb threat, it was diverted to the less busy Modlin Airport, which is mainly used by low-cost airlines.
There were 181 people on board. The aircraft landed at around 10 a.m. local time. At the time of landing, it had 3.7 tonnes of fuel on board. After landing, it was directed to a designated parking stand.
The airport is closed. Emergency services, including bomb disposal experts, are working at the scene. Passengers were evacuated from the aircraft and will wait for the checks to be completed in the airport’s arrivals hall.
