Agricultural University Associate Professor Gets 2.5 Years of “Chemistry” for Taking 140 Rubles in Bribes From Students

An associate professor at an agricultural university in the Mahiliou region has been sentenced to 2.5 years of “chemistry” for taking bribes from part-time students. The sentence was handed down by the court of the Horki District. The case apparently concerns a lecturer at the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy in Horki.

According to the prosecutor’s office, in May 2026 the defendant was administering exams to part-time students and promised two female students passing grades in exchange for 70 rubles from each.

On the day of the exam, the students handed the associate professor their record books with banknotes totaling 140 rubles tucked inside. The women received their grades but did not actually take the exam.

At trial, the lecturer pleaded guilty and expressed remorse. He was sentenced to 2.5 years of restricted freedom with placement in an open correctional institution. He must also pay a fine of 13,500 rubles. For five years, he will be barred from holding positions involving teaching activities and the performance of legally significant actions.
