Units from the “Strela” special traffic police division have been deployed to the Brest region to assist traffic police officers in areas with the most difficult road conditions.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs said the additional road safety measures are being introduced over the weekend, when schoolchildren begin their autumn holidays.
Drivers were urged to be more attentive on the roads and to follow child transportation rules. Parents are advised to remind schoolchildren about road safety rules and monitor how they spend their free time. Motorists are also advised to check the technical condition of their vehicles and prepare them for the cold season. Wet snow is expected next week, and traffic police therefore recommend replacing summer tyres with winter ones.
