A 50-meter flagpole topped with the state red-and-green flag is planned near the Brest border crossing with Poland. BelTA reports this.
“The main objective is to develop the roundabout and create an architectural complex that will become a landmark at the entrance to Brest, Belarus and the Eurasian Economic Union. We have been instructed to work out possible designs for the stele. One option has been submitted for public discussion,” said Siarhei Labadzinsky, chairman of the Brest City Executive Committee.
The proposed design involves building an entrance monument with a 50-meter-high stele bearing a flag. An LED screen may be installed in the stele to display symbols of Brest and Belarus, welcome messages and public information, as well as the time and weather forecast.
Public discussions of the architectural and planning concept for the entrance monument will continue through October 12.
