Several aircraft in European Union countries were diverted or made unscheduled landings today following reports of bombs on board.

In the morning, the office of French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu received a report of a bomb threat aboard an Airbus A320. The Aer Lingus aircraft was flying from Dublin to Rome. It was diverted to a French air force base. There were 151 passengers on board.

A Wizz Air flight from Milan to Warsaw was forced to land in Vienna following a similar report. No explosive devices were found.

A LOT aircraft landed at Brussels Airport in Zaventem following a “suspicious report”. The bomb threat was also found to be unfounded.

Fighter jets escorted a Finnair flight from Helsinki to Rome as it approached the Italian capital’s airport for landing following a bomb threat.

In Bulgaria, three aircraft were grounded following bomb threats. Reports of explosive devices were also received concerning flights that landed in Prague.

At Warsaw Chopin Airport, a flight bound for Paris was stopped while taxiing following a suspicious report. It was moved to a designated parking stand. An inspection found no dangerous objects on board.

A similar wave of reports of explosive devices had already swept across Europe on Tuesday this week, affecting around a dozen flights.
