Illegal Sand Trading Uncovered in Pruzhany District

The Interior Ministry has reported the uncovering of illegal sand trading in Pruzhany District. A criminal case has been opened under articles concerning abuse of power or official authority.

According to the police, the founder and director of a company leased a plot of land in Pruzhany District. They allegedly claimed to be dismantling structures on the site that had been left behind by a former enterprise.

“In fact, they were illegally extracting sand. To sell it on, they entered into supply contracts with various legal entities and individuals,” the Interior Ministry said.

The scheme had been operating for several years. During that time, the suspects sold more than 55,000 tonnes of sand. The damage exceeded 4.5 million roubles.
