Ukrainian General Staff: Russia Used Oleshky Ceasefire to Fortify Positions

Russia used a ceasefire introduced in the Oleshky area for a humanitarian operation to rotate troops and fortify its positions. Ukraine’s General Staff of the Armed Forces said this today.

“As part of the ceasefire introduced for the humanitarian operation in Oleshky, units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces ensured compliance with the ceasefire and acted exclusively within the scope of the agreements reached”, the General Staff said.

At the same time, according to the General Staff, Russian forces controlling the settlement used the pause for their own purposes.

“During the ceasefire, the rotation of Russian units, the strengthening of positions, the expansion of anti-drone measures on roads and the buildup of logistics, including the delivery of ammunition, were recorded”, the statement said.

The ceasefire in the Oleshky area was in effect from October 27 to November 1.
