17-Year-Old History Olympiad Participant Charged with Nazi Rehabilitation

According to investigators, the teenager had administered a Telegram channel for two years, creating what they described as “subversive content” for it. This allegedly included more than 40 posts aimed at “justifying fascist ideology, glorifying supporters of the Third Reich, denying the crimes of the Hitler regime, and glorifying the leadership of Nazi Germany and its accomplices.” Investigators also believe the teenager “distributed materials inciting national hostility and discord, illustrating text messages with Nazi symbols and insignia” and shared “Hitler’s views and ideology.”
The investigation also established that the teenager “had a strong academic record and participated in subject Olympiads, including one in history.”
“These circumstances indicate that the young man possessed sufficient knowledge and fully understood the nature and scale of the crimes committed by the Nazis in occupied territories, as well as the inhumane nature of Nazi ideology,” the Investigative Committee added.
The accused has pleaded fully guilty. He remains in custody.
