Authorities in Minsk identified groups of migrants and property owners who had provided accommodation to foreign nationals without notifying the internal affairs authorities during the nationwide special comprehensive operation “Illegal Migrant”.

According to the Minsk City Executive Committee’s Main Internal Affairs Directorate, the authorities reported that legal measures were taken against offenders following the operation, including deportation from Belarus and administrative fines.

The authorities said reports from Minsk residents helped identify the violations. Citizens alerted the police to groups of migrants and cases in which accommodation had been provided to foreign nationals without notification.

The Main Internal Affairs Directorate said such operations would continue.
