US Treasury Issues Temporary Licence For Russian Diesel Fuel Supplies

The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a temporary general licence authorising Russian diesel fuel supplies to the global market.

The licence was issued on the orders of US President Donald Trump, the department explained.

The licence authorises transactions related to the sale, delivery, unloading and import of Russian diesel fuel until April 7, 2027.

On October 9, Trump held a phone call with Vladimir Putin and said that the US and Russia had reached an agreement on Russian diesel fuel supplies to the American and global markets.

According to Trump, Russia will supply 300,000 tonnes “immediately”, another 500,000 tonnes in November, followed by a further 1 million tonnes. In addition, Russia will supply another 3 million tonnes of diesel fuel “within a short period”.
