A group of experts from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has completed an audit of Belarus’s national system for protecting civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference. The audit was conducted from September 28 to October 7.

The official results of the inspection are expected to be presented by December 8 this year. However, according to the press service of the Transport Ministry, it has already been noted that Belarus has a fully functioning and sustainable security system, and a number of regulatory legal acts have been substantially revised based on ICAO standards.

“The positive results of the inspection will contribute to expanding international air links and strengthening Belarus’s image as a reliable aviation partner”, the Transport Ministry said.

The inspection covered the following areas:

  • compliance of national legislation with ICAO standards and recommended practices;
  • the system of state control and supervision;
  • practical implementation of established requirements by government bodies and civil aviation entities;
  • staff training;
  • aviation security in terms of facilitating formalities for international air transport.
