Ryzhankou Discusses Transit of Belarusian Goods Through Turkmenistan’s Ports

Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou met with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. The talks took place on October 7 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on the sidelines of a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.

The sides discussed the development of bilateral relations, including the work of the Belarusian-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and upcoming economic events.

Particular attention was paid to trade, transport and logistics cooperation, and the use of Turkmenistan’s port infrastructure for the transit of Belarusian goods. The possibility of creating transit hubs and resuming air service between Minsk and Ashgabat was also discussed.

The sides also discussed cooperation at international forums and noted the “closeness of approaches” of the two countries on a number of international issues.

Following the meeting, the ministers signed a Program of Cooperation between the foreign ministries of Belarus and Turkmenistan for 2027-2028.

Ryzhankou invited Meredov to visit Belarus on an official visit, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.
