Beating Leads to Mental Disorder. Aggressor Sentenced to 4.5 Years in Prison

A Vitsyebsk resident beat a man during a conflict. The injuries caused the victim to develop a mental disorder. The court sentenced the defendant to 4.5 years in a high-security penal colony, the Vitsyebsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports.

The incident occurred in March 2026. The 21-year-old Vitsyebsk resident was drinking alcohol with acquaintances at a nightclub. Outside the club, he provoked an argument with the victim. The young man pushed the man twice, causing him to fall and hit his head on paving slabs.

After the victim fell, the defendant struck him five times in the head with his fists and then recorded a video of the man lying on the steps. In the video, he said that he had beaten the victim and sent the files to an acquaintance and his stepfather. He then went home without providing the victim with assistance or calling an ambulance.

The victim sustained life-threatening injuries that resulted in a mental disorder.

At trial, the defendant fully admitted his guilt. He was sentenced to 4.5 years in a high-security penal colony under Part 1 of Article 147 of the Criminal Code. The verdict has entered into force.
