Shell Hits Passenger Bus at Ukraine-Moldova Border

A Russian shell hit a passenger bus at the Ukraine-Moldova border this morning.

According to Moldova’s Border Police, the shell landed near the Palanca border crossing, ricocheted off the ground and struck a passenger bus that was standing near the barrier. One Moldovan police officer sustained minor injuries, and the checkpoint control booth was also damaged. There were no other casualties.

The incident occurred at around 9:38 a.m. The Palanca–Maiaki–Udobne border crossing was temporarily closed.

“The Border Police, together with the Customs Service, are constantly monitoring the situation in order to resolve it and maintain communication with the competent authorities of Ukraine.

Citizens are strongly advised to refrain from traveling to this area and, in the event of drones or explosions being detected near the border, to remain calm, take shelter in a safe place, including in their homes, and rely exclusively on information provided by the authorities,” the police said.
