Iran’s Central Bank reported this following the 19th meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation in Minsk.
The meeting took place from September 29 to October 2. The Iranian Central Bank delegation was headed by Director General for International Relations and Cooperation Hossein Kashiri.
According to the Iranian regulator, the sides discussed practical ways to remove obstacles to currency and banking operations. Regular meetings are expected to help support trade and economic cooperation, as well as develop mutual investment.
Kashiri said Iran’s banking system and financial institutions were ready to attract direct investment and facilitate the participation of Belarusian banks in major economic and trade projects in the country.
The Central Bank of Iran called the meeting an important step toward strengthening monetary independence and diversifying financial channels between the two countries.
The statement did not specify when the meeting mechanism would be launched, which banks would participate or which specific instruments would be used to simplify settlements.
