Belarusian Authorities Report Major Crackdown on Cryptocurrency Couriers in Minsk Region

The Belarusian Interior Ministry reported a major operation targeting cryptocurrency couriers who allegedly helped telephone scammers obtain victims’ money.

According to the Investigative Committee, the suspects acted as couriers. They collected money from hiding places where victims, following the scammers’ instructions, had left their savings. The funds were then converted into cryptocurrency and transferred to the electronic wallets of the scheme’s organizers.

With operational support from Interior Ministry special units, 19 people were detained in the Minsk region. Seven of them have been remanded in custody.

Investigators are establishing the circumstances of the group’s activities, the number of victims, the amount of damage caused and any other possible participants in the scheme.
