Russia has announced the expulsion of several Hungarian diplomats serving at the Hungarian Embassy in Moscow and the Hungarian consulates general in St. Petersburg and Kazan. They must leave Russia within two weeks, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The Russian side said the move was in retaliation for Hungary’s expulsion of ten Russian diplomats.

On September 8, Hungary’s Foreign Ministry declared ten Russian diplomats persona non grata over activities incompatible with the Vienna Convention.
