Lukashenka Calls for Increased Timber Harvesting

Aliaksandr Lukashenka called for increased timber harvesting in Belarus. He made the statement on September 25 during a working visit to Minsk Region’s Lahoysk District, where he visited the Amkodor-Lesmash enterprise.

He emphasized the importance of producing modern forestry equipment and said that working in the forest under modern conditions is impossible without it.

“No one works with an ax or a Druzhba-2 saw anymore. And they shouldn’t. So without your harvesters and forwarders, we won’t be able to do anything there,” his press service quoted him as saying.

According to him, Belarus should not only meet domestic market needs but also export the equipment, for example, to Russia.

“We need to work for export. And there is room for us to move forward. We need to help the Russians in the forest,” he said.

“We need to hurry, we need to do things faster. Under no circumstances should we relax. Because you will take over the markets that are being vacated faster. And in Belarus, we definitely need to increase timber harvesting,” Lukashenka demanded. “We need to do it quickly and work as much as necessary.”
