Belarusian Industry Ministry Expects to Boost Machine Building and Reduce Warehouse Stocks by Year-End

The Ministry of Industry expects to restore production volumes in the machine-building sector and partially reduce warehouse stocks by the end of the year. Industry Minister Andrei Kuzniatsou said this at a press conference at the National Press Center.

“We are approaching this with fairly good results. But we still have an entire quarter in which we need to catch up with the targets set for us by the country. As of today, we are at 97% of production volumes at the end of nine months, while by the end of the year we expect to reach more than 100% of production volume”, he said.

According to him, machine-building exports are 2.1% above last year’s figures. The minister also expects warehouse stocks to decline.

“Our warehouse stocks are declining, and that can only be welcomed. And we see that with production exceeding 100%, we will reduce warehouse stocks by at least 10-12%”, he said.

Responding to a question about the profitability of machine building, the minister sought to assure that the sector as a whole is operating profitably.

“I will say that the enterprises under the Ministry of Industry are operating profitably. Yes, there are certain enterprises that are not reaching net profit. But the tasks that have been set and the decisions taken at the level of the Ministry of Industry and the government show that by the end of the year these enterprises will operate, at a minimum, without losses. Because we can see what the situation is around the Republic of Belarus. This includes logistics, restrictions on logistics due to certain actions in the territories of our partners and neighbors, who have blocked… But I will repeat once again that industry is operating profitably”, he said.

The heads of two industrial enterprises also noted an improvement in business this year. The year started with difficulties for Gomselmash.

“We started 2026 very, very difficultly, given that the machinery produced by the holding company’s management company has the Russian Federation as our main market. And given the turbulence in our market, at the request of our relevant ministry we had to redistribute the areas where our machinery is sold. And thanks to this opportunity and the tasks set before us, we are now moving confidently toward fulfilling this task”, said Vital Sheleh, CEO of OJSC Gomselmash.

He also confirmed that warehouse stocks were declining. Supplies to Africa are among the factors helping the company.

“Our warehouse stocks are declining. This is a very good signal that our machinery is in demand in our main market as well as in our other markets. First of all, we are doing quite well in the long-haul market, in the African region. A new direction for us is countries such as Togo, Nigeria and Zimbabwe. In other words, our machinery is gradually beginning to be represented in this region. We are also doing quite well in the market of our fraternal country, the Republic of Kazakhstan”, he said.

According to him, the company had reached stable operations by the end of the first eight months.

“We have stabilized all our costs, stabilized our work with suppliers, and we see that the result of such coordinated work by this large mechanism is a return to stable operations. Operating with a net profit, working with our suppliers, primarily on quality”, he said.

The CEO of OJSC Management Company of the Belkommunmash Holding, Mikhail Symanovich, spoke in a similar vein.

“This year, the beginning of the year was also unclear for the enterprise. At the beginning of the year, we did not fully understand how we would finish it. However, gradually we entered certain tenders and won in places where perhaps we were not quite expected, but nevertheless, today the enterprise has a number of export contracts that allow us to look fairly positively at the end of this year both in terms of exports and the domestic market”, he said.

Belkommunmash’s main export destinations are Russia and Kazakhstan. In particular, the company has completed the delivery of trolleybuses to Yaroslavl and is fulfilling a contract for tram cars for Chelyabinsk.
