A 17-year-old auxiliary worker was killed at an enterprise in the Brest District during testing of a forced-air ventilation unit.
According to Belarus’s Investigative Committee, the teenager had been employed under a contract for services. He was near the equipment when the airflow pulled him inside the unit. His injuries proved fatal.
An investigative team worked at the scene. Investigators inspected the site, documented evidence, questioned witnesses and seized technical documentation. Expert examinations have been ordered.
The Brest Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee has opened criminal cases against those responsible for compliance with occupational safety rules at the enterprise. The cases were opened under Part 2 of Article 306 of the Criminal Code, concerning violations of occupational safety rules that negligently resulted in a person’s death, and Part 1 of Article 144, concerning causing death by negligence.
The investigation is establishing the circumstances of the incident, as well as the causes and conditions that may have contributed to the teenager’s death.
